Uniquely Woman: Inspiration for Finding a Strength All Your Own

“I am woman, hear me roar.”

Helen Reddy caused quite a stir when she released that song in 1971. Unfortunately, in 2021 – 40 years later, women are still fighting for equality in everything from the workplace to relationships.

While it might be easier to be a woman today than in the past, there are still inequalities that can make everyday life feel overwhelming at times. That has lead to some women trying to carry themselves more like men, rather than embracing their unique womanhood.

The reality is, women won’t be seen as equals if they’re changing their habits to be more like their male counterparts.

Instead, it’s important to focus on finding your strength on your own, as a woman.

If you’re finding that to be easier said than done, find things that inspire you to boost that strength.

Renewing Your Spiritual Strength

It’s easy for some people to misinterpret the Bible. Some verses are often perceived the wrong way, suggesting it makes women out to be second-class citizens. In reality, there are countless verses in the Bible about women showing their strength and God using them to fulfill his plan.

If you’re looking for a powerful verse that you can repeat to yourself every morning, consider Psalm 46:5, which states: “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.”

In times when you’re feeling weak or that you won’t be able to accomplish your goals, think of Proverbs 31:16-17, which says, “She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.” This verse speaks to the fact that whatever a woman sets her mind to, she’ll get it done.

Finding Inspiration Everyday

Even if you’re not religious or spiritual, you can look to those you admire in other ways to harness inspiration. There are hundreds of quotes every woman should read to boost her confidence and feel stronger every day. But, some of the most notable ones include:

  • “We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated!” – Maya Angelou

  • “I attribute my success to this; I never gave or took any excuse.” – Florence Nightingale

  • “The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” – Alice Walker

Finding quotes, song lyrics, or even poems that inspire you can make a big difference in how you see yourself as a woman. It’s also a good idea to look at the advice of women you admire. That’s why quoting people like Maya Angelou and other female trailblazers can help you realize you don’t need to be a man or act like one in order to get ahead.

Be Confident in Who You Are

The inspiration in your life doesn’t necessarily need to come from a celebrity or even a famous saying. Look to the women in your own life who are doing what they love and who are unapologetically themselves.

You can even look internally to gain inspiration. Think about the things you’re good at. What are your strengths? The more you focus on them, the more you can boost your own self-confidence on a daily basis.

Whether you find your strength through spirituality, something that is meant to be inspirational, or you take a look inside to showcase who you really are, being uniquely woman is crucial. The more women who find strength in who they are, the easier it will be to eventually (finally) be on that equal playing field with men.
